Cheese straws
Ingredients:
250g flour
150g butter
1 cup grated cheese
ΒΌ cup cold water
1 egg yolk
Pinch of salt
Pinch of cayenne pepper
Pinch of mustard powder
Method:
- Sift the flour, salt, cayenne pepper and mustard powder together twice.
- Cut in the butter into the dry ingredients mix, then add the cheese
- Mix in egg yolk and cold water until it forms a pliable dough
- Knead dough lightly and place in the fridge for 20 minutes
- Remove from fridge and roll out very thin
- Cut dough into long strips (1cm x 8cm) and twist strips into corkscrew shape
- Place on a greased baking tray and bake at 220 degrees for 10 minutes
- Serve with locally made cream cheese dip and enjoy!
